Do I need council approval for an Outback Pod?

In most cases — no. Our pods are designed to meet size and placement regulations so that in most cases council approval is not needed as it’s considered a non permanent structure. However, regulations vary by local council, so we always recommend checking with your local council to be sure. We take no liability for council approvals etc in relation to your product.

We have starting prices which you’ll find on the site. Extras like a bathroom, storage partition, or custom finishes are available at additional cost.

Our standard inclusions:

  • Fully insulated (Rockwool) structure
  • Durable WPC cladding
  • Double-glazed windows, doors, and end panel
  • Vinyl flooring
  • Certified electrician wiring with lights & powerpoints

You can also add a bathroom or storage partition as an upgrade for additional $1000.

Yes. We offer custom layouts, finishes, and features to suit your needs — whether you want it as a backyard office, guest retreat, off-grid living, or studio. Just ask us about what you have in mind! Keep in mind, these customisations may alter your ability to have it approved by council so ensure you check with your local council. No refunds can be given on customised products.

  • Transportation is by truck; Studio pods arrive ready to use at the final fit-off stage.
  • We use a Frana to unload them once onsite (a separate cost).
  • Delivery cost depends on your location (distance, access etc.). Contact us to get a quote.
  • In stock – We can deliver within 2 weeks of the initial deposit. This time varies however if you request customisations which would need to be reviewed.
  • Back order – Typical delivery time is 4-6 weeks after order confirmation. Time may vary depending on customisations, manufacturing schedule, and your location.

Yes. Outback Pods is an Australian business. Our operations (design, fabrication, etc.) are based in Orange NSW and we deliver across the Central West, Riverina, Hunter, Orana, and Australia-wide.

Just get in touch via our Contact Us page, fill in a form or call us. We’ll discuss your desired size, features, location etc., then send you a quote. If required, we can show you sample pods or images of past builds.

Once your pod is delivered, we’re still here to help. Whether it’s maintenance tips, or minor adjustments — we aim to support our customers long term.

Our Ordering

Here are some of the questions we get asked often. If you don’t see your question here, feel free to contact us — happy to help!

How does the payment process work?

We’ll provide you a quote based on your requirements. Once accepted, we send you an invoice. Standard products (non-customised) require an invoice for 10% of the total purchase price to secure the stock. The final 90% is due 14 days prior to delivery.

For customised orders, a 50% nonrefundable deposit is required if you are customising your order.  The remaining amount is required 14 days prior to delivery.

If your order is not customised and in stock you may receive your order in a as little as 14 days from payment. If your order is out of stock or needs customisation it could be between 4-6 weeks.

All deposits are non refundable. These deposits cover certain associated costs with preparing your order.

We have a grace period, but anything longer than a month must be delivered OR potentially face a $40 weekly rent cost for the space.
